Yes. Top soccer players don’t even play for their HS teams. The Academies


require it or at least strongly discourage it. HS soccer tends to be more physical with poorer technique and there are more contact injuries. Also, the academies often believe that poor HS soccer coaching is bad for player development. And the academies focus on the development more than the games, at least at the youth ages.
